Javier Artola

Javier Artola

Founder and Managing Partner

Javier Artola is the Founder and Managing Partner of Artola Capital Partners (“ACP”). He has worked on numerous M&A, equity, and debt transactions across the energy industry. Notable recent transactions include:

  • Representing I Squared Capital in its sale of Cube District Energy to Fiera Infrastructure, as well as its $460 million convertible preferred investment in Venture Global LNG.
  • Serving as lead arranger to EPIC Midstream on its $950 million first lien term loan to finance the construction of its Y-Grade Pipeline in the Permian.
  • Representing Vitol in the $1.15 billion sale of a 50% equity interest in VTTI BV to Buckeye Partners.
  • Representing EIG Partners in its $1.5 billion convertible preferred investment in Cheniere Energy’s Corpus Christi liquefaction project.
  • Representing CenterPoint Energy in its $11 billion midstream joint venture with OGE (Enable Midstream Partners).
  • Acting as structuring agent or lead bookrunner in initial public offerings for companies such as BP Midstream, Tallgrass, Dominion Midstream, and IEnova.

Prior to founding ACP, Javier was a Managing Director and Head of Midstream and Energy Transition at Houlihan Lokey. Before that, he led the Midstream & MLP practice at UBS Investment Bank and worked at Citigroup and Deutsche Bank, focusing on the midstream and power sectors. Javier holds a B.Eng. from Stevens Institute of Technology, an M.Eng. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He lives in Houston and has enjoyed playing competitive tennis since his college varsity days.
